Arkansas uses six-run sixth inning to win opening SEC series vs. Missouri

Thanks to back-to-back-to-back home runs from Peyton Stovall, Wehiwa Aloy and Kendall Diggs, Arkansas took a 3-0 lead before a two-RBI triple by Ross Lovich extended the lead to five runs. Lovich then scored on a wild pitch. Arkansas wouldn't score again, but they wouldn't need to, as for the second evening in a row, the Razorbacks pitching staff shut the Tigers down.

Arkansas starter Brady Tygart was only able to go 4 2/3 innings, but struck out seven Tigers and threw a scoreless outing in the process. Will McEntire helped pick up the slack, tossing 4 1/3 scoreless innings, saving a valuable Arkansas bullpen for Sunday's series finale. Missouri's hits were cut in half from Friday's contest, with the Tigers only recording one knock on the afternoon. Mizzou was able to draw five total walks, but couldn't translate baserunners into any runs, even with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning. Tygart managed his way out of the bases-loaded jam, keeping the game tied before the Hogs' bats came alive a couple innings later. 

With the win, Arkansas clinches a series victory, improving their overall record a staggering 16-2 and extending their win streak to 12 total games. While Missouri certainly isn't the strongest competition the SEC has to offer, a series win in the best conference in college baseball is always hard to come by and certainly shouldn't be taken for granted, even by the No. 1 team in the country. 

The series finale against Missouri is set for 3 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon. Arkansas travels to the Plains of Auburn for their next series, with the first game of that set scheduled for Thursday evening. After Sunday's finale in Fayetteville, Missouri will face Kansas in a mid-week rivalry matchup before heading home for a conference series vs. Kentucky.
